The K18AK 4-axle open coal hopper wagon, a mature model developed by CRRC Taiyuan, completed vehicle dynamics tests in January 2003 and entered mass production, serving as a reliable solution for bulk material transportation.
Featuring a sturdy 4-axle bogie structure, it boasts high structural strength, stable running performance, and strong adaptability to diverse railway lines. Though an earlier-generation model compared with the advanced KM70 and KM80 series, it fully meets the demands for small-to-medium batch transportation of coal, ore, and other bulk goods, supporting both pneumatic and manual unloading for efficient operation in mines, power plants, logistics yards, and port terminals.

Advantages of K18AK 4-Axle

Adopting the K2-type bogie with bolster and side frames made of B-grade steel, it delivers strong structural rigidity and load-bearing capacity, ensuring stable operation under heavy loads and harsh working conditions.
Equipped with LZ50 steel axles (4-axle design) and high-strength wheelsets (HDSA rolled steel or HDZC cast steel wheels), this wagon features excellent wear resistance and fatigue performance, extending service life and reducing maintenance costs.
The wagon body is divided into four hopper areas by transverse and longitudinal ridges, which are welded with 5mm steel plates and ribs. This design optimizes material flow, prevents residue accumulation, and improves unloading efficiency.
With a bottom door length of 2700 mm and an opening diameter of 520 mm, it enables fast, uniform discharge of bulk materials, enhancing operational efficiency while ensuring reliable sealing during transportation.
