The KZ70 ballast hopper wagon was designed by CRRC Taiyuan in 2005 to meet the equipment requirements of China’s rapidly developing heavy‑haul railway transportation. It was developed as an advanced solution for ballast transportation under heavy‑load working conditions.Compared with the K13NK ballast hopper, the KZ70 features significant improvements in multiple performance indicators, especially in load‑bearing capacity and carbody structural strength. With enhanced structural design and higher reliability, it better adapts to heavy‑haul railway operation and long‑term service. Advantages of KZ70 70T 4-Axle
Main bearing parts adopt 450MPa yield strength high-strength weathering steel and special cold-formed steel, effectively reducing dead weight and significantly improving the net load capacity for ballast transportation.
The wagon body steel structure is optimized for enhanced strength reserve, with hyperboloid U-shaped cold-formed steel side columns that boost sidewall rigidity, strength, and reliability, ensuring stable performance under heavy loads.
Equipped with E-grade steel 17-type high-strength couplers and MT-2 large-capacity buffers, the coupler buffer system delivers improved durability and impact resistance, ensuring safe and stable marshalling and operation.
K5/K6 bogies enable a fully loaded driving speed of 120 km/h, while effectively reducing wheel-rail forces to minimize wear on rails and wheels, extending service life and lowering maintenance costs.
